Let’s start with a question from River Black:
"What kind of information is collected as health statistics? Do all countries collect the same information, or is there some variation from country to country?"
Health statistics include data on areas such as health status, health risk factors, health care utilization, and health care resources, covering population health and health systems. Data is collected according to standards set by international organizations, such as the OECD, to allow comparisons between countries. However, some countries may not fully comply with these standards due to differences in data production infrastructure or institutional frameworks. Nevertheless, the data is generally collected in a way that enables meaningful comparisons between countries.
