Choi:
First, let’s discuss how you assess the current care crisis and how you see it unfolding in the future. Professor Lee Hyejin, what are your thoughts?
Lee:
I would like to address this issue mainly from two perspectives.
First, as Professor Kim Boyoung mentioned, I think the real problem is the rapidly increasing demand for care. In general, most people experience health issues before needing care, and those health problems often lead to a situation where care becomes necessary. I think that in many cases, it is due to a lack of rehabilitation or other services that can prevent these health problems from affecting their functioning.
Second, there is a shortage of services for those who already need care. In particular, there is a shortage of home medical care and various in-home care services, forcing many people to move from their homes to nursing hospitals or care facilities.
