KIHASA Reorganized, New Appointments Made

KIHASA has been reorganized into six departments and two groups from its previous organization of nine departments and two groups. The six departments are research planning and coordination, health care policy research, poverty and inequality research, social services policy research, social security finance and data research, and administration. Two groups are the international cooperation group and the population policy planning group.


The details of the reorganization are as follows:

The department of health policy research and the department of health care policy research were merged into the department of health care policy; the department of income security policy research was reorganized into the department of poverty and inequality research; the department of social security finance and policy research and the information and statistical research department were merged into the department of social security finance and data research; the functions of the department of population policy research were transferred in part to the department of social services policy research and partly to the population policy planning group, which is newly established to enhance KIHASA's capacity to plan population research policy and to rapidly respond to population agendas; the welfare state research group was abolished, with its functions transferred to the department of poverty and inequality research; and the information technology unit was transferred to the administrative department.


Appointment of new directors:

Park Jong Seo was appointed to lead the department of research planning and coordination; Ham Young Jin as the director of the department of social security finance and data research; Lee So Young as the head of the population policy planning group.
